High-yielding Dutch variety of potatoes of universal purpose "Agria" refers to mid-season and allows you to get a full crop of marketable root crops in 110-120 days.

Morphological features

In recent years, many of the most interesting Dutch potato varieties, including Agria, have been cultivated in large volumes by many domestic potato growers.

The potato bush of this variety is characterized by medium growth power. Corollas of flowers of white color. The period from seedlings to technical maturity is 110 days. Berry formation is rare.

Potato "Agria" has excellent resistance to cancer and potato nematodes, but is quite susceptible to late blight and scab. The plant is slightly affected by leaf curl and mosaic.

Economic and biological characteristics

The root crops of the Agria potato are covered with a yellow, relatively dense peel with superficial eyes. The shape is root-oval. The average weight does not exceed 137 grams. The flesh of the potato is yellow, with a starch content of 8.1-16.4%. The purpose of root crops is universal.

The value of this variety is a stable yield, excellent taste of root crops, the suitability of the harvested crop for industrial processing, as well as high nematode resistance. The total yield in compliance with agricultural technology varies from 202 to 319 kg / ha. A shelf life of at least 76%, usually 85%.

Potato farming

Potato cultivars "Agria" for growth, flowering and tuberization requires a standard temperature regime at the level of 16-22 ° C. Mass germination of properly prepared potato tubers begins when the soil is warmed up at a planting depth of 7-8 ° C.

When growing potatoes "Agria", the following requirements must be observed:

  • light and medium-sized soils, chernozem, loamy, sandy soils with slightly alkaline or neutral reaction should be preferred;
  • the area for planting potatoes should be as open as possible, lit by the sun, with the presence of a deep arable layer and high levels of humus content;
  • the soil for planting potatoes should be prepared since the fall, by plowing the site on the bayonet of a shovel, carefully removing all weeds;
  • in the fall it is advisable to carry out the application of organic and mineral fertilizers, nitrogen-containing fertilizers are best applied in the spring, directly when planting potatoes;
  • for a season it is necessary to carry out at least two hills of potato bushes: the first hilling is carried out after the seedlings have reached a height of 14-15 cm, and the second time the hilling of potatoes should be no later than the beginning of flowering.

It is worth remembering that seedlings appear no later than a month after planting, the average period depends on the quality of the seed, as well as climatic conditions and temperature conditions.

The greatest need for plants in water is observed during the flowering phase. During this period, tying of tubers occurs. Also, watering potatoes is necessary at the first sign of drying out of the soil. Then you should loosen the soil and carry out the podkuchivanie potato bushes. Throughout the growing season, planting potatoes should be cleared of weeds.

With insufficient nitrogen in the soil, potato tops develop very poorly, and the bushes grow weak, with small and sparse leaves. A lack of phosphorus causes dullness and curliness of the leaves. Elongated and pale leaves of potatoes signal a lack of potassium in the soil. Browning of the leaves is provoked by an excessive amount of watering and a lack of magnesium or zinc. Regular planting inspections allow timely identification and elimination of the problems of malnutrition of plants.

Reviews of vegetable growers

For cultivation in household plots, it is recommended to select exclusively crustacean and nematoderesistant varieties of potatoes. Variety "Agria" has gained great popularity among vegetable growers not only in our country, but also abroad. It is unpretentious and demonstrates high productivity. The reviews of potato growers about this variety are only positive and characterize the Agria potato as a recumbent, large-fruited and very tasty one.

Potatoes of this variety are highly marketable. The tubers are easy to peel, practically do not boil, have a pronounced potato aroma and excellent taste. High resistance to the defeat of many diseases and plant parasites significantly reduces the need to use chemicals during crop cultivation, which makes potato tubers more valuable and useful, suitable also for baby food.
