Selection history

Variety "Northern synap" is late winter and is characterized by the possibility of long-term storage of ripened fruits. The Northern Sinap was obtained from the seed material of the Kitayka Kandil variety as a result of free pollination. The variety was obtained by the VNIIS named after Michurin. The authorship belongs to S.I. Isaev.

Some time after selection, the variety "Northern Sinap" was zoned for the territory of the Central Black Earth, Middle Volga and Lower Volga regions. The flange form is zoned for the East Siberian District.

Varietal qualities of the fruit tree "Northern Sinap" is recommended to be used in breeding to create a quick-growing apple tree, characterized by a long storage period of fruits. The Northern Sinap became the basis for the cultivation of such varieties as the Oryol Sinap and Moscow Winter, as well as Moscow Later. The palatability of apples of these varieties is significantly higher than that of southern varieties.

The North Sinap apple trees have undeniable advantages that distinguish them from most varieties zoned in central Russia.

The main advantages of the described variety are represented by good winter hardiness, early maturity, abundant productivity of trees, excellent taste qualities of ripened apples and outstanding keeping quality of the harvested at the right time.

Gardeners should remember that the fruits of the Northern Sinap cultivar may be uneven. In addition, the variety is characterized by a decrease in the commercial quality of fruits during the formation of a very abundant crop, as well as a fairly late onset of removable fruit maturity.

Grade characteristics

Fruits have average weight. Standard weight slightly exceeds 100 grams. Appearance of the Northern Sinap apples is quite neat. The fruits have an oblong shape, which can vary from rounded conical to cup-shaped. The main color of the fruit is yellowish with green, and the integumentary color is most often brownish, with a red blush on the sunny side. Fruits are characterized by high juiciness, sweet and sour, refreshing and slightly spicy taste. The pulp is white or with a slightly greenish tint, has a fine granular structure, as well as medium density.

The peel on the fruit is smooth and slightly oily. The peel has a large number of large bright subcutaneous points. The seed material is quite large and has a brown color and an elongated, ovoid shape. The peduncle is medium in size.

Features of the chemical composition of the fruits of the "Northern Sinap":

  • sugar content does not exceed 11%;
  • solids content reaches 16%;
  • the ascorbic acid content is 11 milligrams per 100 grams of apples;
  • the content of P-active substances slightly exceeds 100 milligrams per 100 grams of apples.

Description of the fruit tree

The fruit tree of the Northern Sinap variety is very tall and can reach a very impressive height. A medium-density crown has a broad pyramidal shape, based on several powerful skeletal branches, as well as thin numerous lateral branches.

The staining of the standard bark and skeletal branches is gray. Brownish shoots, average in thickness, are characterized by a direct direction and an average degree of pubescence, insignificant articulation. Apple trees of this variety are distinguished by a mixed variant of fruit formation, which can be observed not only on twigs or pillows, but also in the area of ​​annual shoots and spears.

The foliage of the Northern Sinap apple tree has a dark, very saturated green color and a light, barely perceptible, gray shade. Leaves of medium size, with a characteristic luster and significant pubescence, elongated. The edges are characterized by the presence of serrate-toothed serration. Large flowers have a delicate pink color. At the budding phase, reddish staining is present.

Productivity

"Northern Sinap" is characterized by a high level of productivity, which from a single tree allows you to get almost 200 kilograms of ripe fruit. Variety apples are ready for picking in the first decade of October. Dates of removable maturity may vary depending on climatic characteristics in the cultivation area.

Trees enter fruiting early enough. As a rule, the first crop is formed in the fourth year of growing a fruit tree. The use of dwarf rootstocks significantly accelerates the timing of fruiting. Over time, apple trees of this variety can very quickly increase the yield. Too much fruiting negatively affects the size of apples.

Landing and care

Apple trees "Northern Sinap" are characterized by the most active growth and development, which makes it necessary to plant fruit plants of this variety in well-lit and open planting areas.

The soil for planting should have sufficient moisture capacity, breathability and a high level of fertility. Soil acidity should be at 5.8 pH. The plant develops very well on loamy or sandy loamy soils. In lowlands and with a close location of groundwater, it is required to provide a landing site with quality drainage.

Planting should be done before mid-October or early spring, which will allow the plant to adapt easily and seamlessly. Optimal dates vary from mid-September to the second decade of October. A planting hole is dug up three weeks before the planting of seedlings.

The standard gap between plants of this variety should not be less than six meters. The planting pit with a seedling should be covered with a fertile layer with the addition of rotted manure, wood ash and composted foliage. A good result is shown by the addition of soil with superphosphate and potassium sulfate.

The plant requires fixing on wooden pegs, which will ensure the correct vertical growth of the fruit tree. After planting, abundant watering is carried out at the rate of 2 buckets of water for each plant. Further care is standard and consists in watering, loosening the tree shafts, as well as mulching the soil with peat or high-quality humus in the winter period.
