Landing requirements

Strawberries, or garden strawberries, varieties "Bogota" are planted on elevated fertile areas, well-lit by the sun throughout the day. When planting, you can’t deepen the heart or the growth point of the plant, which is the apical kidney of a strawberry bush. However, it is also impossible to plant plants too high. The root system of a strawberry plant should not be exposed during irrigation.

The optimal distance between the planted bushes in one row should be about 25-30 cm, and between the rows the distance should not be less than 60-70 cm. The soil on the ridges should have sufficient moisture.

Mulching of planted plants with natural materials has a good effect, including straw, sawdust and needles. Planting time can be reduced by using black non-woven garden cover material as mulch. Unlike black polyethylene, such a covering material is air- and moisture-permeable.

Care Features

Strawberry Bogotá, like all large-fruited varieties, places high demands on events such as irrigation and top dressing. Watering should be plentiful (warm water) and supplemented by fertilizer application. A set of fertilizers is quite diverse and includes the use of both simple and complex formulations. Foliar top dressing is additional to the main introduction of intrasoil fertilizers. It is allowed to use both manure or bird droppings, as well as ready-made mineral fertilizers intended for garden strawberries.

Be sure to spray the garden strawberry plantings as soon as the snow cover has completely melted with a preparation such as Fitoverm, and then repeat the spraying again, after about two weeks. After the last gathering of berries, spraying bushes of wild strawberries is carried out with the preparations "Fundazol", "Switch" or "Bayleton".

Preparation of ridges with wild strawberries for the winter period begins with warming the bushes with organic mulch in the form of sawdust or well-dried hay. Before mulching, sanitary cutting of strawberry bushes with the removal of dry or diseased leaves is performed. It is recommended to cover the prepared bushes with the onset of stable frosts by spruce spruce branches or any other covering material.
